Children’s Classes

The Fortify Dojo offers a children’s martial arts class that – quite frankly – your children won’t always want to come back to. The training is hard, and it isn’t for everyone. But if they do stick it out, they’ll forget that giving up on things is an option.

Your child will receive:

  • Constant Encouragement
  • Difficult Challenges
  • Meticulous Technical Training
  • Promotions for Achievement

Areas of Study Include:

  • Basic to Advanced technique in Standing Up and Falling Down
  • Some very technical Punching and Kicking
  • Throws Hold Escapes and Foundational Grappling
  • Cognitive Training including: Memory Training, Critical Thinking, and Strategic Thinking

The Fortify dojo does not gouge families with testing fees, and other minutia. The class is $45/mth. If your child makes it through the first technique list than there is the cost of the uniform, which we don’t even sell. That’s it. You never have to pay for anything else. In the Kurai Kotori Ryu ranks are earned, you couldn’t pay us enough to give them away.

For the most complete understanding of what we offer we would recommend visiting both a children’s class and – even more so – an adults class, to see the where this type of training leads.

Requirements for Study

Any child may attend this class provided that they are reading and writing well enough to engage in a handwritten conversation. We’re open to children as old as pre-teen, and young teenagers, but if they seem to be a better fit for the adult class than we’ll ask that they give that a try. Students at Fortify are asked to gain proficiency in the first twelve techniques of the system before they purchase a uniform. Until that time students may wear general athletic wear. White, grey, and black are preferred.

It is important to note that the ranks for the children’s class go through green belt. We don’t have a junior black belt. The great thing here is that when a child moves from the children’s class to the adult class they will be at the same level as the other green belts they are working with.

Once a student has reached the green belt level they may continue attending the children’s class free of charge, as they are – at that stage – a true asset to the school.
